imagefiercen replied to your post: sorry ive just had more than one queer person say…

a lot of heteroromantic asexuals *insist* they’re part of the queer community because they’re asexual, it’s really damaging for queer asexuals and i really hate that people have bad experiences because of it

i would still consider heteroromantic asexuals part of the queer community just like anyone else who is asexual. i just don’t think they should be able to deny their privilege. i know as an asexual that i don’t have hate groups out for my life, nobody is damning me to hell for not having sex or not being sexually attracted to anyone, i understand that just because i am queer it does not mean that i can put myself on the same level as other queer people and their personal experiences and say that i understand what that’s like. but it’s not like asexuals don’t share some struggles with other queer people we should all be able to support each other in all the struggles we face, but people need to make sure that they put their own issues into perspective because i’ve seen cis asexuals on tumblr being like “oh we understand how hard it is to be trans because we’re also queer” and i’m like “haha no you fucking don’t understand what that’s like. at all. stop.”
